Buggspray repels mosquitoes that may transmit West Nile Virus, Encephalitis, Malaria, or Dengue Fever and Lyme-carrying Ticks
Mosquitoes, black flies (biting gnats), ticks and other 'bugs' have menaced humans for thousands of years. Mainly an annoyance in the past, they can now carry exotic diseases causing a serious public health issue to emerge. Mosquitoes and ticks transmit West Nile Virus, Lyme disease, malaria, encephalitis, Dengue, Rift Valley Fever and other diseases. The United States Environmental Protection Agency regulates insect repellents in the United States. Buggspray Insect Repellent is EPA registered to claim: "Repels mosquitoes that may transmit West Nile Virus, encephalitis, malaria, or Dengue fever".
"Over 60% of the population does not use any kind of insect repellent. The CDC wants people to protect themselves with something and has just recommended two new ingredients (picaridin and lemon eucalyptus). They note the protection is narrow and short-lived but DEET continues to be the gold standard in the repellent industry," explained Brian Weekley, a chemical engineer at Bugg Products LLC. "I suggest consumers try some alternatives to the traditional market leaders, including our Buggspray, and see what works best for them."
Buggspray is available in two 25-percent DEET formulas: Buggspray Original (EPA Reg. No. 67867-4) and Buggspray for Biting Flies (EPA Reg. No. 67867-5). The 'Original' formula has a clean, powdery scent like vanilla and works great on mosquitoes as well as biting gnats. Buggspray for Biting Flies has no fragrance but contains two EPA-registered fly repellents and a synergist. It provides even better protection from mosquitoes and works on larger biting insects such as stable, deer, and horse flies.
Bugg Products LLC is located in Long Lake, Minnesota. Their products are sold mainly in the upper Midwest at retailers such as Cub Foods, Holiday Stationstores, Coborns/Cashwise, Byerlys & Lunds, and Ace Hardware. For more information, visit www.buggspray.com. - END -
[Note: While we don't doubt the CDC is trying to help the public by telling them to use 'something' besides DEET over using 'nothing', we can't agree with this new recommendation. DEET is the answer.] Please read these three articles thoroughly:

Bugg Products LLC, a Minnesota-based company, announced today that it has expanded distribution of its Buggspray Insect Repellent through Holiday Stationstores.
Holiday Stationstores operates more than 300 corporate stores and 92 franchise stores in 12 states in the northern tier region of the United States and Alaska. Both formulas of Buggspray, Original and Biting Flies, will be available in a 20-unit counter display in over 300 stores. After a successful trial of the one-ounce products on clip-strips in 2004, Holiday decided to give their customers an even better value and put the family-sized four-ounce bottles in a prime location by the cash register.
"After doing well with our clip-strips in over 250 stores last year, we were hoping to get a few inches of shelf space for our 4-ounce bottles. We were excited when the buyer was very interested in the mixed counter display. She wanted to put 1 or 2 of them in every store," said company President Brian Weekley.
The company's line of pleasant smelling Buggspray (brand) Insect Repellents is unique in the industry based on label claims for West Nile Virus, Encephalitis, and Dengue Fever. The 'Biting Flies' formula provides even better protection from mosquitoes and works on larger biting insects such as stable, deer, and horse flies.
"We were very happy to get our products into Holiday last year," said Weekley. "The idea of building a relationship with another local company and helping each other grow is very appealing and is part of our continuing strategy."
Bugg Products LLC, a Minnesota-based company, announced today that it has begun shipping its Buggspray Insect Repellent to SuperValu, Inc. for distribution nationwide.
The company's product is in SuperValu's 2005 National Insect Control catalog sent to retailers last December. The catalog features Point-of-Purchase displays from all the major insecticide manufacturers. In addition, the company participates in SuperValu's clip-strip program that provides a convenient way to merchandise product without taking shelf space. SuperValu is the nation's leading grocery store distributor with more than 1500 retail stores and over 4000 customer stores using their supply chain services.
"Being part of this program with a mixed display of our two best selling products has been a tremendous boost for us. This gives us the ability to provide more consumers with a distinct alternative to traditional smelly repellents and those products that just don't work", said company President Brian Weekley.

"After appearing on TV and radio several times again last year, consumers have been searching for our Original vanilla-scented product in grocery stores", said Weekley. "This enabled us to reach an agreement with Cub Foods to carry our 4 oz. bottles. We also switched to a nationwide broker which will support our growth efforts in other regions."
